Waymarks is a charity and specialist provider of supported living for people with mild- moderate learning disabilities and complex histories. We support people to live independently whilst maintaining their safety and the safety of others. We believe that people with complex histories often require support to build relationships and improve the quality of their day to day life.

We're looking for someone to take a Senior Specialist Support role in XXXXXXX where we support someone with complex needs and who requires specialist, personalised support services both in their home and out and about in their community.

This is an exciting role ideally for an experienced support worker looking to take on more responsibility.

You'll take a lead role in building positive relationships, be a motivating influence, and help the person you support develop their skills.  Most importantly you'll be supporting someone to live safely in the community and making an enormous difference to someone's life. We're looking for someone who is flexible, adaptable and is motivated to help others.

You will be responsive to the needs of the person you support and you will understand equal opportunities and its importance.  You will be interested in learning about specialist support and enjoy being part of a core team around the person you'll be supporting.

You'll be keen to look for opportunities to increase the quality of life for the people you support and want to help people to reach their goals.

Your role and duties will be:

  • Reporting to the Service Manager for the day to day quality of the service.
  • Using Interpersonal skills to help people make choices, develop self help and independence skills.
  • Helping to seek inclusion opportunities and

     introduce the people we support to community facilities, clubs etc.

  • Taking a lead role in building good working relationships with the people we support, their friends and families, your colleagues and external organisations involved with the people you support. You are required to show empathy and awareness for others’ individuality, beliefs and cultures. You will recognise and challenge any bias,  prejudice and discrimination 
  • Planning and writing rotas
  • Being a full member of the support team with 100% on rota time including waking nights

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Experienced in support work and working with complex needs
  • Able to work flexibly and to respond effectively to changes in workload and the needs of the people we support
  • Able to work as part of a team and act as a mentor.
  • Able to build relationships with the people we support and enable them to expand their circle of support
  • Able to observe/monitor and report signs of triggers for risk behaviours
